Styles and Wine Composition: 

WHITE WINES
  • Bianco (Wh, WhFr): Any proportions of Chardonnay, Friulano, Gewürztraminer, Malvasia Istriana, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and/or Verduzzo Friulano
  • Chardonnay (Wh, WhFr): Minimum 90% Chardonnay + OAWG
  • Friulano (Wh): Minimum 90% Friulano + OAWG
  • Malvasia (Wh, WhFr): Minimum 90% Malvasia Istriana + OAWG
  • Pinot Bianco (Wh, WhFr): Minimum 90% Pinot Bianco + OAWG
  • Pinot Grigio (Wh): Minimum 90% Pinot Grigio + OAWG
  • Sauvignon (Wh): Minimum 90% Sauvignon Blanc + OAWG
  • Traminer Aromatico (Wh): Minimum 90% Gewürztraminer + OAWG
  • Verduzzo (Wh, WhSw, WhFr): Minimum 90% Verduzzo Friulano + OAWG
ROSATO WINES
  • Rosato (Ro, RoFr): Any proportions of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and/or Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso
RED WINES
  • Rosso (Rd): Any proportions of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and/or Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso
  • Cabernet Franc (Rd): Minimum 90% Cabernet Franc + OARG
  • Cabernet Sauvignon (Rd): Minimum 90% Cabernet Sauvignon + OARG
  • Merlot (Rd): Minimum 90% Merlot + OARG
  • Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso (Rd): Minimum 90% Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso + OARG
  • Riserva (Rosso, red varietals)
SPARKLING WINES
  • Spumante (WhSp): Minimum 90% Chardonnay and/or Pinot Bianco + OAWG


Significant Production Rules: 

  • Minimum alcohol level: 10.5% for Bianco, Rosato, and Rosso; 11.0% for all varietals and Spumante; 13.0% for Riserva
  • Residual sugar: Maximum 12 g/l (1.2%) for frizzante versions of white varietals; Spumante may be either brut or demisec
  • Aging: For Riserva, minimum 2 years, including 12 months in barrel (ERD = November 11, V+2)
