SPARKLING WINES
- A proposed modification to the disciplinare would allow the production of tank-method sparkling wines from any proportions (blend or varietal) of Chardonnay, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, and/or Pinot Nero. In addition, a sparkling wine made from 100% Moscato Giallo would also be allowed. This modification was approved at the national level on March 16, 2015, and forwarded to the EU for formal approval.
Significant Production Rules:
- Zone of production: Defined area in the provinces of Trento and Verona
- Minimum alcohol level: 9.0% for all wines except 11.0% for Novello
- Aging: No minimums specified
