- Reno, from the majority of the denomination located in the province of Bologna and six communes in the province of Modena (Bianco and Spumante only)
Significant Production Rules:
- Zone of production: Numerous communes in the provinces of Bologna and Modena, plus four communes in the province of Ravenna
- Grapes for Passito must be dried on or off the vine to achieve a minimum potential alcohol level of 15.0%
- Minimum alcohol level: 10.5% for non-subzone Bianco and Spumante; 11.0% for all subzone wines except Colli d’Imola Bianco; 11.5% for Colli d’Imola Bianco; 12.0% for Vendemmia Tardiva (14.0% potential); 12.0% for Passito (15.0% potential)
- Residual sugar: Spumante can range from natural (zero dosage) to dry
- Aging: No minimums specified
